I am Anxo, a Philosophy graduate, carpenter by family trade, IT enthusiast by passion, and climbing instructor by profession. I was born in Galicia, where the Atlantic atmosphere and rich Galician culture shaped my identity. My childhood was marked by the scent of wood and the tradition of artisanal ship carpentry, learning to create with my own hands.
My Philosophy studies at the University of Santiago de Compostela allowed me to explore the world from multiple perspectives, guiding me in constant reflection and questioning. My passion for climbing began at the age of 23 in Barcelona, during my studies. I fondly remember my first experiences at the Túnel de la Foixarda climbing gym and rock climbing outings in Montserrat with friends.
A decisive turning point in my journey was meeting Patxi Usobiaga, world champion in difficulty climbing. Living with him and Ingrid Casanovas for four months was transformative; we trained together, developed a climbing sector in Perles, and built “The Temple” climbing gym. This time reinforced my passion for climbing and fostered valuable friendships.
My professional growth continued with certifications as a climbing instructor from the Escolas Pias in Barcelona and specialized courses in mountain medicine and first aid. Filoclimb is the result of combining my philosophical training with my evolution in climbing, drawing inspiration from my students and the support of my family and friends.
