Course Program:
Day 1:
We will meet at the designated location, either Monachil or Nigüelas, drive a few more minutes to the sector, and then hike for about five to ten minutes. We will start with a presentation of the gear, followed by a demonstration of gear placement. Once explained, we will begin setting up different types of multidirectional floating anchors. We will review the equalette, fisherman’s eye, and blocked triangle. After a break for lunch, we will progress on two A1 pitches in aid climbing. We will then rappel down from the floating anchor we built at the top of the route, all done using a single rope. Finally, we will pack up the gear, hike back to the car (about five to ten minutes), and conclude the day.
Day 2:
We will follow the same approach as on Day 1. Meeting at the location, either Monachil or Nigüelas, driving a few minutes to the sector, and then a five to ten-minute hike. On this day, we will start by climbing with a single rope, placing and testing protection gear individually while progressing on an A2 route. We will then move on to progressing with double ropes on an A2 route with two pitches, alternating lead climbers at floating anchors. We will reach the top of the second pitch and rappel from another floating anchor, leaving some gear behind. After a lunch break, we will continue in the afternoon with self-rescue techniques. At the end of the day, we will organize the gear and hike back to the car, concluding the course.
