Guadix is one of the oldest human settlements in Spain. The most striking feature of this city are the marvellous cave dwellings that characterise its neighbourhoods, and which are still inhabited today.
This monumental city preserves an interesting historical-artistic heritage, such as its Alcazaba, whose origin dates back to the 11th century under the Zirid dynasty; no less important are its magnificent views of the fertile plain, the city and the Sierra Nevada.
Guadix offers the possibility of travelling back in time through different cultures and civilisations, simply by strolling through its narrow streets and at the same time through its great historical buildings. Religious architecture plays an important role in this city, its main attraction being the monumental Siloesque Cathedral of the Incarnation (16th - 18th centuries). Other notable religious buildings include the churches of Santa Ana, Santo Domingo and San Francisco.
On the other hand, there is Gorafe, with its megalithic park. An archaeological site that can be visited today, and which is one of the best examples of the Megalithic (Bronze Age) in Andalusia, due to the 240 dolmens that are preserved in it. Thanks to its visit we can get an idea of what this type of funerary monuments were like.
All this awaits you with an official local guide and transport included from Granada.
