The Jewish Quarter of Córdoba dates back to the 13th century. In this Jewish neighborhood, you will find one of the best-preserved synagogues in Spain. Its streets exude the essence of Córdoba, combining a medieval layout with the famous courtyards adorned with cheerful flowerpots.
The Alcázar of the Christian Monarchs is the second most visited monument in the former caliphal capital. It is a fortress built as a royal Christian residence by order of Alfonso X. Among other monarchs, the Catholic Monarchs lived there. In its Tower of Homage, Christopher Columbus requested funds for his maritime expedition. It also served as the seat of the Spanish Inquisition. Inside, you can find an oasis of exotic gardens with ponds and remnants of the different cultures that inhabited Córdoba. Notably, among these remains is a Roman sarcophagus from the 3rd century.
