The Metropolitan Cathedral of the Incarnation of Granada and the Royal Chapel were temples founded by the Catholic Monarchs as symbols of Christian consolidation of the newly conquered city of Granada.

The Royal Chapel of the Santos Juanes, is a late Gothic funerary temple, sober, solemn and full of symbolism. The marble mausoleums of the Catholic Monarchs and one of their daughters, Doña Juana I of Castile and her husband Felipe “el Hermoso”, are astonishing for their details and beauty. In the Museum of the Sacristy you can contemplate oil paintings and personal objects of the Catholic Monarchs, donated to the Royal Chapel from their personal collection to embellish it.

The Cathedral of Granada, the first of Renaissance style in Spain and the second largest in the country, is a colossal work in terms of dimensions that took almost two centuries to build. The main chapel, with its original circular design, is decorated with stained glass windows, paintings and sculptures depicting the history of Christian salvation. The temple treasures many works of the renowned baroque artist from Granada, Alonso Cano.
