Details
Discover the thrill of the Cueva Horá via ferrata in Loja, an intermediate route with a 1 km course and 50 meters of height, ideal for K4 climbers. With stunning views of the "city of water" and the historical legacy of the Alcazaba of Loja, this experience offers two monkey bridges, two rappels, and two zip lines for a day full of adventure and culture in the heart of Granada.
Objectives:
- To experience climbing a via ferrata.
- To safely progress through a via ferrata.
Target Audience: People looking to tackle more challenging via ferratas.
Activity Program:
Approach (5 minutes): We'll meet at the gas station parking lot next to the Abades hotel, then drive about 15 minutes on dirt roads to the Ferrata de Loja parking lot and walk for about 5 minutes to reach the start of the ferrata.
Ferrata Activity (2 hours 30 minutes):
- Brief explanation of equipment use, with exercises.
- First course: Start the ferrata by ascending two zip lines, then climb the line of staples, gaining height and learning how to handle carabiners as we ascend about 20m. This leads to a 15-meter monkey bridge, which we cross before climbing more staples to reach a K4-level chimney. This section can be bypassed via a K2 route. Once crossed, we walk to a 20-meter rappel line that takes us to the ground.
- Second course: Back on the ground, we start another staple course, which quickly leads to another 10-meter monkey bridge and a second 10-meter rappel line. This rappel can be avoided by climbing to the top of the wall and descending by foot. The rappel takes us back to the ground.
- Third course: On the ground again, we climb a K3 route that takes us to the top of the wall.
- Zip line: Following the trail, we pass through a rock arch and reach a 50-meter zip line that leads us back to the first rappel point. From there, we begin the descent.
Return (10 minutes): We descend the path to the car, which will take about 10 minutes.
