Objectives:
- Have a first experience of climbing single-pitch sport routes.
- Learn to tie a figure-eight knot and use a GriGri for safe climbing.
- Learn how to belay a partner who is climbing on top rope.
- Get to know sport climbing equipment.
- Learn the figure-eight knot used for sport climbing.
Target Audience: People who want to start climbing on rock or artificial walls.
Course Program:
Approach: From the parking area, we walk with our backpacks and climbing gear towards the sector for about 15 minutes along a narrow zigzagging path until we reach the canal wall that supplies drinking water to Motril. Here, we climb a few steps, similar to via ferrata, to overcome a 3-meter wall. Once on top of the canal, we continue walking along it until we reach another path. Following another zigzag route, we arrive at the base of our climbing routes.
Climbing Activity: At this wall, we will have time to climb approximately four top rope routes and belay our partners on at least four others. When the time comes, we will take down the routes and organize the gear to pack it up.
Return: We descend the same route back to the car, which will take us another 15 minutes or so.
