Program:
Approach:
We will meet at the Zafarraya Via Ferrata parking lot, then walk for 10 minutes to reach the start of the ferrata.
Climbing Activity:
- Brief explanation of equipment use, with some interactive games.
- We’ll start ascending the ferrata, climbing the rungs to gain height and practice clipping the carabiners. We’ll ascend about 60 meters straight to reach a 40-meter zip line. After crossing, we’ll continue horizontally along a line of rungs until we encounter another ascending section leading to a second zip line, about 30 meters long. After launching ourselves, we’ll reach a third zip line, 10 meters long. This takes us below a 10-meter vertical ladder. We’ll climb the ladder and encounter the Pendulum. After crossing, we’ll ascend to the summit and detach from the lifeline to descend by foot on a trail for about 20 minutes, which will lead us to the base of the Stairway to Heaven.
- We’ll take a break to have a snack and rehydrate.
- We’ll climb the Stairway and encounter a 5-meter ring bridge with no foot supports. We’ll cross it and continue up a series of rungs leading to a ledge. We’ll follow the ledge to reach a 30-meter Tibetan bridge. After crossing, we’ll climb more rungs to reach a 10-meter monkey bridge, pass through a natural rock tunnel of 5 meters, swing across the Pendulum, and ascend to the summit. We’ll detach from the lifeline and begin our descent along the trail.
Return:
We’ll descend along the trail back to the car, which will take approximately 25 minutes.
