Details
This Introductory Multi-pitch Sport Climbing Course is aimed at those who need to increase their climbing knowledge to safely venture into multi-pitch equipped routes.
In the Introductory Multi-pitch Sport Climbing course, you will learn at your own pace how to progress on multi-pitch routes, manage the rope, set up belay stations, read route descriptions, and descend safely and efficiently from a wall.
With the techniques learned in this course, along with practice and consistency, you will acquire the necessary tools to climb long equipped routes in places of great beauty and natural value, such as the Sierra Nevada National Park, the Sierra Nevada Natural Park, Los Cahorros, and the Sierra de la Alfaguara.
This course will teach you how to manage all these aspects so you can focus on climbing and not on untangling ropes.
If you have any questions about how the course will unfold, don’t hesitate to ask.
Objectives:
- Acquire basic theoretical knowledge for climbing equipped multi-pitch routes (gear, topo maps, how to approach the route, etc.).
- Learn how to use and handle the necessary equipment.
- Understand the belaying and climbing techniques for two-person teams.
- Apply the skills learned in a real-world practice environment.
- Learn basic self-rescue techniques for multi-pitch routes.
- Understand the belaying and climbing techniques for three-person teams.
Target audience: People who want to train in rock climbing or artificial walls on multi-pitch routes.
Course program:
The first day takes place in a climbing gym, and the second day is spent climbing on real rock, applying the knowledge gained in a real-world setting.
On the first day, we will meet at the Rock and Bloc climbing gym for a one-hour presentation on materials, equipment, and climbing protection, as well as planning and time management. We will then continue with training on the gym's walls for the rest of the day. We will take a one-hour lunch break and continue in the afternoon.
On the second day, we will meet at a location, either the Alfaguara mountains or Motril, depending on the time of year. We will then walk to the climbing area, where, tied in teams of two and later teams of three, we will put into practice the knowledge acquired the previous day. We will take a one-hour break to eat something we bring with us, and continue with self-rescue training in the afternoon.
